Thanks for joining us on this tour! We hope that you get the chance to visit our sunny new home in Redwood City soon. ![]() Power cord reels hang from the ceiling to enable team members to stay charged up when camped out at the bar tables along the windows. Highfivers can also challenge each other to a game of FIFA World Cup in the TV lounge. One of the best things about our new space is that it enables the entire team to sit down together for lunch, something that wasn’t possible in our previous office. The team can find more informal meeting space in the lunch and games area adjacent to our kitchen. In contrast to our natural themed conference rooms, the workspace area has a minimalist, industrial feel with the cement floors, high ceilings, and exposed pipes. Light from the floor to ceiling windows fills the space. We opted for an open floor plan with desks that could be raised for working in a standing position. We named our conference rooms after communication tools from the past, such as carrier pigeon, printing press and stone tablet. Interior rooms feature glass walls, which give them access to the natural light that streams into our open office workspace. Highlights include a gorgeous conference table constructed from reclaimed redwood and a wall decal of the Andes Mountains. These hubs of collaboration and creativity feature natural elements like glass, steel, wood and marble. Our conference rooms are the stars of our space. Visitors can let us know they’ve arrived by checking in with our virtual receptionist, an iPad mounted on a stand, which uses an app to notify a team member via HipChat and text message that their guest has arrived. The casual wood lounge furniture creates a sense of the outdoors brought indoors, while the nearby bar enables us to greet our guests with their favorite beverage, whether that’s a cup of coffee or a cold beer. Our reception area is where visitors are first introduced to our space and where the team arrives each day, so we wanted it to be a sunny, welcoming oasis. ![]() From the marquee “Be Awesome” sign, to the shuffleboard table, to the kegerator in our lunch area, we aimed to create a place that the team and our guests wanted to be, whether they were hard at work or just hanging out. So we focused on creating a delightful experience for our guests, building spaces that inspire collaboration, embracing elegant design, and having fun. We really wanted our office space to reflect the Highfive brand and company culture. We put a lot of thought into the design and amenities of our office, drawing on the guidance of design firm NBBJ and our design consultant Ashley Haase, so we thought we would take you on a virtual tour here on our blog. We’ve only been in our n ew space in Redwood City for two weeks, but the Highfive team is already feeling at home.
